So it’s been over a year since I quit my day job and I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun. In the last year I’ve had my studio built, I’ve renovated a granny flat, almost finished renovating an entire house, redone all but one of my old websites, made a new website that went viral, and made friends with a bot.

What’s keeping me occupied at the moment is getting ChatGPT to clean up my old Photographic Dictionary site. The AI has been incredibly helpful at making utility functions, refactoring old code and database schemas, and the big one - generating content. It’s like an overly helpful little sidekick who knows more than I do and actually enjoys writing boring code, which as a big picture person is like the bestest thing ever.

Unfortunately without a job or any primary source of income I don’t have any labels. Am I unemployed? Retired? Self employed? My friend calls me a “vibe coder” so I’m going to take that for now an get it printed on a t-shirt.
